World Duchenne Organization welcomes Habib Dystrophy Hope Foundation as Aspiring Member

We are excited to announce that Habib Dystrophy Hope Foundation has joined the World Duchenne Organization as our newest Aspiring Member. Founded in 2020 by Mohammadi Mohiuddin, a devoted mother and advocate from Pakistan, the foundation is named to honor her beloved son, Habib, whose journey and resilience through Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) continues to inspire.

Ms Mohiuddin shares what moved her to set up this organization. “Habib was diagnosed with DMD at a very young age of 4,5 years. He was a force of positivity, bringing light and hope to his family and everyone who knew him. Even though he passed away at just 15 years and 8 months, his legacy lives on in the foundation. We work tirelessly to bring awareness, education, and support to Pakistan’s DMD and muscular dystrophy community.”

The Habib Dystrophy Hope Foundation stands as a dedicated advocate for those impacted by muscular dystrophy, building a network of support and resources for individuals and families affected by this rare disease.

Driven by values of inclusivity, diversity, and equity, they strive to create a world where every person with DMD feels respected, involved, and valued. Through outreach and community-building, they aim to bring greater awareness to the unique needs of the DMD community, offering a platform of support and empowerment that bridges medical, social, and emotional aspects of managing the disease.

Ms Mohiuddin explains “I found the World Duchenne Organization on instagram and started following their page. Deeply impressed by their perception of DMD and their work-connecting the global Duchenne community; and continuous support and research for a cure for DMD-I started supporting their cause. They reached out to me and informed me about memberships and also took a comprehensive interview. Later, they sent a form for an aspiring membership. I decided to be a member because I wanted a guide, and to build worldwide connections with various experts, and have a roadmap for beginning our work.”

By joining as an Aspiring Member, the foundation strengthens its mission with a global perspective, aiming to become a beacon of hope and a force for positive change within the DMD community in Pakistan and beyond. Together, we aspire to create a world of compassion, inclusion, and dignity—a world where, as Ms. Mohiuddin so beautifully envisions, every Duchenne warrior feels accepted, valued, and proud.

We are honored to welcome Habib Dystrophy Hope Foundation to the World Duchenne Organization family and look forward to supporting their mission.
