European Patients' Forum

Access to high-quality, patient-centred health and related care

The European Patients’ Forum (EPF) is an umbrella organisation that works with patients groups in public health and health advocacy across Europe. Their members represent specific chronic disease groups at EU level or are national coalitions of patients.

The EPF is working to be the patient voice in European health and related policies, and is aiming to be a driving force to advance patient empowerment and equitable patient access to care in Europe.

EPF helps to empower patient organisations through information sharing, policy initiatives and projects. They coordinate best practice exchanges between patient organisations at European and national levels. Our programmes also help to strengthen their organisational and advocacy capacity.

Their strategy focuses on six goals:

  1. Health literacy
  2. Healthcare access and quality
  3. Patient involvement
  4. Patient empowerment
  5. Sustainable patient organisations
  6. Non-discrimination

With this, they empower patients and patient organisations to benefit not only their own wellbeing, but also improve the wellbeing of the community as a whole.
