Duchenne Patient Academy 2022

International training for Duchenne patient advocates

This year, the 6th edition of Duchenne Patient Academy will take place. The Academy provides online  training for Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophy (DMD/BMD) patient advocates. This year’s theme is ‘Changing Perspectives’ and it will take place on December 1 – 3 2022.

Over the course of 3 days, DMD and BMD patient advocates will listen to speakers and attend panel discussions moderated by experts in their respective fields. As with last year, attendees have the opportunity to become involved in the dialogue and share their experiences.

Changing perspectives

Duchenne Patient Academy aims to inspire and equip patient advocates to become change makers and build a better future for people living with dystrophinopathies. This year the program is designed to provide various perspectives on certain topics related to science, care and advocacy. By doing so, participants gain a broader understanding of the challenges, and possible solutions.

Suzie-Ann Bakker, program manager: “Each year, we apply the feedback of the alumni to develop the new program. Combined with the insights from clinicians, researchers and companies, we ensure that the topics address the needs of the global community. The agenda, speakers and topics differ each year. People who previously attended the Academy can always learn something new by attending Duchenne Patient Academy 2022.”
