Duchenne Patient Academy 2020: Applications now open

We are delighted to announce that Duchenne Patient Academy, supported by the World Duchenne Organization, is returning for the fourth year this November. Applications are now open! Patient advocates looking for training in the field of research, policy, regulations and data are highly encouraged to apply.

The online program takes place over the week from Monday November 30 to Sunday December 6.

This initiative coordinated by the Duchenne Data Foundation connects leading experts in their fields via a week-long intensive training and capacity building program. By connecting the DMD/BMD and the broader NMD world, Duchenne Patient Academy aim to contribute a unified and strong voice to coordinate the global advocacy strategy of the community.

Patient advocates accepted into the program will benefit from expert speakers and participate in the global dialogue, receiving training in fundraising, science, policy, regulations, clinical trials, and networking opportunities.

This year, Duchenne Patient Academy selects 200 participants to join the online training. Priority will be given to young adults affected by Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophy. This program is open for patient advocates, family members, clinicians, healthcare professionals, researchers and medical students.

Applications are closing on the 13th of November. Find out more about the program, speakers and application procedures here

When patient advocates throughout the world are equipped with the same tools, knowledge and experience, we can better represent and serve Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophy in terms of research, care, policy-making, regulations and awareness. – Dimitrios Athanasiou, WDO Board Member
